The Summit Foundation seeks to promote the health and well-being of the planet – its people and its natural environment – by achieving a sustainable global population, protecting the earth’s biodiversity and making cities livable. To achieve its mission, Summit focuses on empowering girls, conserving the Mesoamerican Reef and promoting sustainable cities. The Empowering Girls Program seeks to empower marginalized girls by transforming their social, reproductive and economic lives. Its largest investment to date is GOJoven, a youth leadership program launched in 2004 in Belize, Guatemala, Honduras and Quintana Roo, Mexico. In 2014, the Central America and Mexico Youth (CAMY) Fund was launched, which provides grant support to young leaders to implement innovative projects related to girls’ equality and adolescent sexual and reproductive health (ASRH). Summit also supports expanding international and U.S. commitments to empowering girls and ASRH, including an emphasis on youth participation in global processes.
